The Laundromat SF at Venus Pie Trap
If there’s hope for US American culture, then it is going to be found in the world of start-ups, pop-ups, and small businesses. It’s how artists and artisans survive and sometimes establish themselves to become local institutions of culture. Take what’s happening at Venus Pie Trap, for example. It is a side project of Sean and Grace Venus, who have established themselves as a favorite Santa Cruz County brand with Venus Spirits, Venus Spirits Cocktails and Kitchen on the Westside (and soon coming to Rio Del Mar), and their newest venture Venus Pie Trap.

Baked Goods and Lucky Birds
Venus Pie Trap is a stylish coffee shop located on the Esplanade in Rio Del Mar and offers 11th Hour Coffee, The Laundromat SF bagels, baked goods by Companion Bakeshop, pies by Edith’s Pie, and their own menu of New Haven-style pizzas and house salads. Focusing on quality comfort foods, this new Venus venue gives a home in Rio Del Mar to two Bay Area bakers and a homegrown Santa Cruz favorite. It is a win/win/win situation that gives locals in Rio access to some delicious baked goods handcrafted in SF and Oakland, and they get to expand their market and take advantage of organic marketing. Plus, the seagulls and pigeons are the beneficiaries of some delicious crumbs!
